The Sincere Milk

1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

It is a rare Christian that can find the sincere milk of the word and grow spiritually without Biblical teachers and without a Biblical church. We can only be taught by one Biblical teacher at a time, but we all need more than one of them. Notice the words that are plural in this passage:

Ephesians 4:11: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

When the Lord leads believers from one church to another it will be because the church they move to will be more Biblical than the one they left. It will be because they will add something to that new church, not just so the church can be a blessing to them. It should be because of what they can give to the church and not just what they can get from it. The churches that will give us the most sincere milk of the word will have many believers in them whose lives the Bible has changed and they will be good examples. They will have many believers in them who are there because of what they can give to that church and not just what they can take from it.

1 Corinthians 11:1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

We need to follow those who are following Christ. We will not know who is following Christ if we keep ourselves and our lives distant and separate from them, if we just dabble around the edges of a church. We also need to study the Bible for ourselves. Otherwise we will not know the difference between Biblical churches and unbiblical ones.

Acts 17:11: These (Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

When God leads us to different churches it will be to more Biblical churches where others are growing and where we will grow. We should make a deeper commitment to whatever church the Lord leads us to than the last one. We should never attend a different church so that we can do less there. We should never move to a different church to avoid accountability. It has been said that it makes no difference which church we stay home from.
